Dinner on our last night with Abelardo (our guide) and Wilfredo.

Michelle got a bit carried away with this sunset, here's 1 out of 10.

We couldn't get enough of the sunlight views.

See the zig-zag? That's the trail up the other side.

Hats and views.

A bit washed out, but happy all the same.

After admiring Incan rocks from every angle close-up, we decided the last set of walls could be appreciated better from afar.

Look Daddo and Sara, an Andean hummingbird!

A gorgeous place to wake up and do some yoga before starting the trek back.

Pre-dinner appetizers on our second night.

The upper compound as viewed from the meeting circle.

Always smiling, Wilfredo (our trusty cook and arriero) with the mulas.

Apparently we HAD to see the llamas... even though it meant an extra trek down (and back up).

Incan bowling?

Lyra looking pensive in the midst of the rocks.

Views from windows.

Ancient walls, the artsy black and white look.

Posing in doorways.

Yay, mountains!

Our first view of the lower terraces of Choquequirao.

Mmmmm...milk chocolate with peanuts never tasted so Sublime.

Day 2: up, up, and up.

Curly Q Cacti.

Patches of sunlight.

Snow covered mountains, always a sight to behold.

Starting off... 32 K to Choquequirao.

After a big bowl of salty spaghetti, we leave the town of Cachora and set off for Choquequirau.

Unfortunately most do not heed this request.

Clouds over Cusco Part II.

On the search for another Demuna.

Stop. Train Crossing. Care for your life.

An impressive load.

Moving on... to a man ready to jump into action at any second.

Michelle dumps the athlete for a guy with a bit more class (and what a smile!).

Un verdadero Dr. Seuss tree.

Love the hats, Rita y Julia en la cocina.

We had no idea this would be an all day endeavor (complete with chicken foot soup for lunch).

Hard at work scrubbing years of accumulated carbon off the cooking pots in Zurite.

Waiting to be seen... this is when we try to snag women for interviews.

We finally found (and made a great contact) at Demuna (Defensia Municipal de Nino y Adolescente).

El Centro de emergencia de la mujer.

El Minesterio de la Mujer, much less impressive than the neighboring Minesterio del Trabajo.

Hanging chiles at the tapas bar.

Another yummy fruit/yogurt/granola concoction, this one at a Spanish Tapas Bar.

Pretty pink popcorn... and the stand is driven around by bicycle.

Delicious looking uvas.

Salmonella much?

Yup, that's a pig head sitting there.

Chicha... the fermented corn beverage that the locals are wild about (us, not so much).

They have huge slides here.
